You should operate your salt chlorinator for the full time period that you operate the pool's pump (and filter) adjusting the output of the chlorinator so that the pool reaches a Free Chlorine level of 1-3 ppm. If this is insufficient to reach the required FC level, then you will need to extend the circulation and chlorination time until the proper FC level is accomplished.
