The salt should go into the main body of the pool - not in the skimmer. Since one giant pile of salt takes longer to disperse and dissolve, it's good practice to array the bags of salt around the pool - closer to one another in the deep end. With the salt bags in place, work your way around the pool emptying the bags into the pool. Brushing the salt around can further assist in dissolving the salt.
