The pool size is going to be the determining factor for you, a saltwater chlorine generator can typically work with whatever pump you use (as long as it is appropriately sized for your pool). A salt system usually just needs a minimum flow of about 25 gallons per minute (which is very low, most low-flow variable speed pumps don't even go down that low).
