You would want to use the controls on the Digital Nano wall unit to turn it off. That way even if your time clock is still providing power to the salt system, the salt system is not trying to generate when there is an insufficient level of salt in the water. Its a best practice, but the salt system will turn on a warning light and won't be able to generate anyway until your salt level is high enough.
