This aftermarket cell is compatible as a replacement for any existing t-15 type cell. The consideration regarding older models and firmware versions has to do with the oldest models only having a "cell type" for the t-15, and then models from roughly 2009 added t-3 and t-9 cell types. In other words, if you wanted to downgrade to a smaller cell size and had a very old controller, its firmware might not have the required cell type settings. If the controller has currently been running a t-15 cell type, then no action is needed if putting another t-15 type of cell on it.
