Can this be installed AFTER the salt chlorinator to filter out the calcium (I assume) that comes off the plates? This calcium ends up in the pool as white pieces that settle to the bottom.

That would probably work, but what you are describing is a water chemistry balance issue and is not normal to that degree. It would probably be easier to balance the water. You'd get 1000x more use out of this when installed before the filter as intended.
