The equipment runs less hard to keep the pool chlorinated, so it will last longer and you can also turn your system up higher to knock out potential pool problems more easily. The CPSC16 can get upgraded one model size higher to the CPSC24 if you change the setting on the controller to let it work with the new cell type.
