On that model, it is a one-touch button to cut the chlorine output setting in half. A common use would be when a pool has a cover put on it during times it is not in use. With a cover and/or cold season weather a pool needs much less chlorination. Pools around the county can have very different winterization processes though, so this may or may not apply to you.
