A pool's existing filter usually requires much more time to provide adequate circulation than a salt chlorinator needs to adequately sanitize the pool when sized right (which you are doing). That means you don't necessarily have to change how long you run your pool equipment because you can adjust your salt chlorinator up or down on it's controls. That way you are using only a portion of sanitation power on a normal basis, and then have plenty of extra sanitation power should you need it after a storm or pool party. Or if you think you're running your pump longer than needed now, than you may be able to shorten things once you get the salt system.
