With regard to flow detection, the two flow switches are no different from one another. The version with a temperature sensor is used in situations where the control module has been reconfigured to take water temperature readings from the flow switch rather than the salt cell. This reconfiguration is employed if there has been a failure in the cell's temperature sensor.
