I am using with a Pentair 520 Cartridge Filter. I would like to increase the water flo return in my pool which is 40,000 gallons, but was afraid the Pentair 520 cartridge filter could not handle the additional water flow?

Looking at the manufacturer specs, that filter has a max recommended flow rate of 150 gallons per minute, which for the typical pool should be able to handle the pump flow at high RPM. Plus one of the benefits of variable speed pumps is that you get better filtration during the pump's low RPM operation, which is the majority of the time.
