For the pump CircuPool SmartFlo® Variable Speed Pool Pump 1.5, if it does not use the old mechanical timer, how do you control the attached cleaner booster pump. It is currently wired where the pump must be on for it to be on.

You would typically still utilize the timer to power on the booster pump during a time when you also have the programmable VS pump running at high speed. In other words, you'd still have them running in tandem, you would just coordinate the mechanical timer and the digital program of the new pump.
