Is this kit anything special to pool plumbing? Or can I use PVC Primer and Glue from Home Depot, Lowes, or local plumbing supply store? Are there any particular specs or requirements for the glue?

You can absolutely use those items if you already have them from the hardware store, pool plumbing PVC is a standard material. This kit just gives you all the exact items you need when the equipment is delivered at the same price.
