If I buy the system and the adapter to replace a Pentair, will I need to be gluing any pipes together or is everything threaded? In other words, do I need to buy glue or other installation tools make the switch?

You will need to glue the kit together with the new system's cell and flow switch. All of that will be able to then drop in place to the existing unions, so that you don't have to cut out or replumb the original piping.
