Does the Universal 40 system require a calibration? My system was reading 2700 and I took water to my locL pool place and they were reading 3700. Is there a reason for such disparity? Do I need to do something to the unit?

Typically on a salt system that indicates you're about to need to clean the cell. As mineral scaling builds up in the cell, it impedes electrical flow, which makes it look to the unit like there's a lower salt level in the water. Go ahead and clean the cell with 1 part acid 4 parts water for 10-15 minutes.
