what controls the pump? Is the pump cycled by the same customer supplied timer that energizes the sanitizer? Or does the sanitizer control the pump during the sanitizer cycle, reducing run time on the pump? View answer

I am growing weary of throwing money at Hayward Products. We are needing to replace a Aquatrol-RJ for a hard sided 24' Dia. above ground pool. Will the Universal40 work for us and our pool? Will we need to re-configure as current salt cell is mounted at return jet (RJ) on side of pool? We are pretty good DIYers and moderately proficient at plumbing and electrical. i am replacing a ic30 pentair with ic60 i want to make the purchase very soon but i will not install it till summer time when does the warranty start also i realize i have to cut the pipes to install it because it is larger does the unit come with the other half of the unions and o rings to do the install thank you View answer

Does the Universal 40 system require a calibration? My system was reading 2700 and I took water to my locL pool place and they were reading 3700. Is there a reason for such disparity? Do I need to do something to the unit? View answer

I am considering going salt. I have a pentair system. My pool is just under 20k gals. Would the salt generator for a 60k gal pool be overkill? As my pool seems to grow algae easier and often. I get my pool water checked 2-3 times a week. Almost always I’m low on chlorine. I typically go through 6 bags of shock per week and 5 gals of liquid shock along with chlorine tablets. And my water is very seldom clear. ALL my numbers/levels are within range.. I havnt seen the bottom of my pool in a couple months. My hope is that a salt generator would get things better. I use this unit on the lowest setting for my salt water(NaCL)hot tub and it works great! I’m considering switching to bromine due to my wife’s skin sensitivity. Will it generate bromine if I flush the system and add the sodium bromide? If so, where would I buy It(NaBr)? Thanks View answer
